/VERDICT/
Starting off with its packaging; just like the first SelfCoding that I’ve previously reviewed on my blog, the packaging is consistent with its minimalist design of the box which is mostly see-through with white accents for the font and the container itself with a white cap and clear bottle. The box has all the ingredients and other important information about the product and of course, a clear print of the shade name as well. Moving on to its scent, it doesn’t smell like any other lip product that I’ve tried before which is why I can’t seem to figure out how to explain or describe the scent. But don’t get me wrong, it’s not bothersome for me nor triggers my allergic rhinitis. It’s just something I can’t put into words, it’s neither fruity nor floral-ish and come to think of it, it kind of smells like a particular pastry.
With regards its application, it glides smoothly and the applicator takes an ample amount of product hence no need to double dip. The applicator is not the usual shape as it doesn’t have an edge or pointed tip to reach the sides of the lip but the applicator is somehow flexible making it possible to still reach the sides of my lips easily. Comfort-wise, it’s very lightweight on the lips and since it’s highly pigmented, I only need one layer and the color is already vibrant. It’s not drying at all which makes it even more comfortable to wear and it doesn’t settle between the lip cracks even though I have dry and chapped lips. It’s buildable as well and can be doubled as a blush because it can be blurred easily and most importantly, it doesn’t have a sticky feeling to it.
The texture is in the middle of liquid and cream that makes it easier to apply evenly and has a true matte finish. It doesn’t dry off too easily but when it does, it dries into a really pretty matte finish. In terms of its longevity, it does last long. I’ve tested it for the whole day and it did last me for at least 6 hours. Although, it has minimal transfers which is alright but it doesn’t fade nicely if you ask me. So it’s not as advisable for me because I don’t like retouching and since this is really pigmented, the fading can be extremely noticeable and I’m not comfortable with that fact as it doesn’t look pleasant at all.
The shade range is quite okay and most shades will suit most, if not all, skin tones. They have a total of 6 shades and the reason why I chose the shade “Apple” is because I felt like it’s the safest shade to match my skin tone and undertone. Which I wasn’t wrong as it’s the perfect and lovely red shade that matches my skin really well. It originally retails for P630 / $12.6 but since this is available on my Charis shop, it has a discounted price of P540 / $10.9 each. Looking at its price, it’s reasonable as most lip products from K-Beauty brands are priced within that range and if you’re not bothered by the thought of retouching every 5 hours roughly, then it’s alright. As for me, it’s worth trying if you haven’t seen the best lipstick for you and I wouldn’t use it if I have to eat out to prevent it from fading too fast or too much.
