What is PEPT?

-
PEPT is under the Accreditation and Equivalency Program made by the Department of Education here in the Philippines to help out-of-school youth or dropouts to be able to continue / start school on the grade level according to their ages that's why it's called Philippine Educational Placement Test. It places you not where you stopped but where you should be if you didn't. For example, a student stopped school at Grade One and at the age of 10 which the child should be at Grade Four wanted to go back to school, he/she can take the PEPT for Grade Two and Three so he/she can be admitted to Grade Four the coming school year.



Who is Eligible to take PEPT?
-
PEPT is solely for Filipino Citizens who are :
  • Dropouts from Elementary and/or Secondary level for at least (1) year
  • Overage in-school children by at least a year of their current grade level
  • No formal schooling but knows how to read and write
  • Wants to re-enter school
  • If your school is not accredited by DepEd

When is the PEPT being administered?
-
There are two types of PEPT being administered :
  • PEPT Regular : This is administered once a year which is usually being held around the month of June for those coming from Public Schools.
  • PEPT Walk-ins : This is open for walk-in examinees all-year round (take note that it's not that you do walk-in, they will accommodate and let you do the test right away. It's still by schedule and usually will be 2 months from the date you registered.
  • Special PEPT : Conducted upon request of concerned parties within the year. Schedule depends on the said request.

Where is the PEPT being held?
-
  • PEPT Regular : This is being conducted in several testing centers of the division offices to also cater those who are not residing in Metro Manila.
  • PEPT Walk-ins : Walk-ins are being administered only at National Education Testing and Research Center at the DepEd Central Office located at Meralco Avenue, Pasig City by DepEd's Bureau of Education Assessment.
  • Special PEPT : Venue depends the said request.

What are the requirements?
-
  • Birth Certificate : Issued by the National Statistics Office or Local Civil Registrar duly authenticated (original and two (2) photocopies)
  • ID Pictures : Two (2) pieces of identical and recently taken (1x1" size)
  • School Records : (Elementary) Form 137 or Form 138 / (Secondary) Form 137
  • School Permit : Photocopy of School Permit to Operate/Government Recognition (for applicants from private schools)
  • Registration Fee (non-refundable) : 
    Regular Administration - (every November) P50.00
    Walk-in/Special Administration - P200.00

When and where is the registration?
-
  • For PEPT Regular : Prospective registrants are required to go to the nearest DepEd Division Office
You can email or call DepEd to know when is the exact registration date as they change the test date and registration period every year (contact details will be at the bottom of the post).
  • For PEPT Walk-in : Takers are required to register personally at the Test Administration Division located at the 2nd Floor of Mabini Building, DepEd Complex, Meralco Avenue, Pasig City. You can ask for directions from the guards once inside the vicinity.
  • For Special PEPT : Interested individuals have to coordinate with the Office of the Director-NETRC at the 2nd Floor of Mabini Building, DepEd Complex, Meralco Avenue, Pasig City.

Does the National Education Testing and Research Center provides reviewer?
-
They don't but some were given pointers on which subjects / topics you should study about given that you'll have month/s of preparation prior the test. There are review centers that offer services particularly for PEPT or would be better to self study at your own pace and your own way.

Things you need to focus on when about to take the test
-
The test has multiple-choice questions for Grade One to Fourth Year High School based on the K to 12 Curriculum.

    • Second Year :
      • Intermediate Algebra

      • Biology

      • Asian History (Kasaysayan ng mga Bansang Asyano)
    • Third Year :
      • Geometry
      • English III
      • Chemistry
      • Filipino III
      • World History (Kasaysayan ng Daigdig)
    • Fourth Year :
      • Advance Algebra, Trigonometry, Statistics
      • English IV
      • Physics
      • Filipino IV
      • Economics (Ekonomiks)

What to bring on the day of the test?
-
You will be required to bring two (2) Mongol Pencils in 2, Sharpener (just in case) and Scratch Paper for when you need to calculate anything to make sure your answer is accurate.

You can also bring snacks (you should at least bring biscuits or sandwiches, chocolates to replenish your sugar and keep you going and of course, refreshments) especially if you're going to take the test for multiple levels such as Grade One to Fourth Year High School (yes, there are examinees that take PEPT for the whole 10 levels) as there is lunch break.

You also need to bring (1) valid ID that you need to leave with the guard in-exchange for a pass inside the complex. 

Take note that PEPT is created by the Department of Education to help Out-of-School Youth by validating and accrediting knowledge and skills in academic areas gained through informal and non-formal means for re-entry into formal school, job promotion, entry to job training, for employment and self-fulfillment.
It is not conducted for grade level acceleration purposes.
